I have a PCI PNY GeForce 6200 256MB video card that doesn't have a fan. I installed an aftermarket fan on the heatsink, but the two wires are in contact with the heatsink. I'm concerned that the heatsink will get too hot and melt the wires, causing some kind of devastation. Is it ok for the wires to be touching the heatsink? From what I've read online about these cards, the heatsink gets super hot.

It is likely fine for the wires to touch the heat sync. The insulation probably melts at more than 250F and if your heat sync gets that hot the card probably wont work. If your really concerned take some electrical tape and wrap the wires up and away from the sync or use a zip tie to make sure they are not near the sync.
