    Disc (Frisbee) Golf

I am new to this forum and was wondering if anyone here plays disc golf? I am a fairly casual player (2-3 times a week) and have only been playing a year. i have played at about a dozen courses up and down the west coast (Morley, Atascadero, Moraga, Humboldt Curtain, University of Oregon, Seattle etc.) and was wondering if anyone here would be interested in discussing this sport (or game if you like).

Or you can all call me a hippy pussy for playing a game called frisbee golf. Thats cool too.

i have played frolf twice in my life but it was really fun. i can see why people really get into it. i played on the dexter course and the lansing course in michigan. it can be frustrating as shit when you try to throw straight and it arcs to the side though :-/

I can't say that I've tried it, but I'm definitely very interested as I wouldn't mind increasing the accuracy of my throw. I'm a frisbee enthusiast when it comes to Ultimate. I intend to play club for wherever I end up going to college.

Nu Nobo: Yeah, it can be frustrating at first when discs cut or slice, but that is actually part of the strategy. For instnaces, backhands will put a spin on it so it will fall left at the end where as forehands shots will put a spin on it to make it drop right. This is useful for holes where you need to cut to a side after a certain distance.

Plus there are many other fun techniques and variations on throws to get the discs to go where you want. I strongly reccomend trying it more. Its a fun excuse to drink/smoke/get together with friends and its WAY more kick back that actual golf.

    AND cheap!

yeah. both times that i went our group ran into some veterans and they were really friendly and helpful. lol. i usually do pretty well until a hole where there is a river or lake involved and my frisbee ends up sinking.

Me and my friends enjoy playing, but the only course we have found around here is terrible. The first three or four holes are nice, but after that you end up in deep woods with ridiculous side slopes, so if you slice or hook you end up further away than you started.

There is a pretty nice course back home though so I play a couple times a month there.

I play when I'm back home. We've got three pretty nice courses within 15 minutes. I've played in a couple tourneys but I think I'm done with that since I'm basically just throwing my money away.
    Lets hear everyone's favorite discs.
I often throw Stingray, Beast/Orc, Aviar, Shark.... of course there's more but I won't get too into detail.

I am a big fan of the TeeRex and the TeeBird. I dont really like the Beast/Orc discs as I feel they are too overstable.

The shark, however, is a fucking MONSTER. Best approach disc in frolf.

I've played once, and I used some blue driver for about 1.1 holes before I threw it in the water. Anyway, I didn't do bad for a first timer and I kept up with my friend even though he was stoned retarded.

We have a nice course on campus and I play a few times a week. I had my doubts when I started but its pretty damn fun.

I have collected a lot of discs, but my favorites are a Beast for driver, TL for fairway drives, Kite for midrange, and recently got a soft Magnet putter that I like a lot.

I try to play when I can. My home town has 4 courses so its nice. They just added a driving range to one. Not much in my bag though. I have a Valkyrie and a Star Aviar.

Best approach disc is the Discraft Buzz.

My main frisbees are a Beast, Buzz, Roc, Cobra, Boss, XL, Surge, Wraith, and two Magnets for putting.

There's 3 courses within 15 minutes here. We play at least twice a week. Great excuse to get outside smoke some pot and sink some birdies.
