    Sketch Dump/Sketch Request

    EDIT:
This Thread is for ANYONE who wants to post art or sketchdumps for crits and comments from myself and other members!!!

Alright, so I need motivation to draw!
I'm going to be posting my best weekly sketches from my sketch jams.(The graphic display forum isn't just about photography )

You can also request sketches ( just gotta have Patience!)

    -------------------------------------------------

It's not dead on, but its hard to draw someone without a photo of what they look like.

This is just a Thumbnail of a Pan shot i want to do

i wish i could draw.... here's a random idea to keep you busy--take gifs like the one in your sig and recreate it with sketches. then patch it together into a gif to match it. if you need help working with gifs let me know, i can break it down into a series of images for you to recreate. might be fun to do for you.

edit: just saw the new post above mine about you and animations haha, i swear i didn't know

I'll prob get a job next year if everything goes well. I took a month off just so I could relax. Not it's back to buisness. I start school back up again in August.

Bigmak- Yeah I plan on doing that... but a little different. I'm gonna pick a scene from a movie then animate it with my own character and sync it with audio.

Can you write graffiti? It seems like you already have a nice style going so I bet if you incorporated that into writing we could get some good eye candy.

and Can you draw in different styles?

I've tried graffiti in the past and it was too frustrating lol

But yeah I can draw in basically any style, i just need a week or 2 to learn it. You learn little things from each style you draw and then you add it to your own.

I'm @ Algonquin right now. Continuing with Traditional. You guys done a walk cycle yet? Man so cool to have another animator on the boards! We can talk all technically and no one will know what we are talking about lol. Like "Favor your keys and shoot it on 1's."

    haha yeah man,

The walk cycle was our 3rd animation assignment of our first semester. We had to do the pink panther for it.

Unfortunately for my year we got kinda screwed cuz the real animator instructor was in cali for the first semester doing work so we were stuck with the guy running the program as a replacement and well hes not an animator at all.

Is your program just traditional or is it mixed like mine?

We have 2 years of traditional stuff and then 3rd year we break off into character animation or the gaming stream. Personally im leaning towards the gaming. As much as i like seeing my animations in motion, the actual process is super tedious, and at times frustrating.

That's really funny, because the Group1 teacher of first year was in India for like a month lol they sorta got screwed.

    Our program Goes like this:

    1st Year: Traditional
    2nd Year: Traditional or Digital
    3rd Year: Independent short

Here's my walk cycle of Dirk lol (I see alot of popping haha)

I'm interested to see some of the stuff you did. Feel free to dump sketches also!

ah cool cool, so whats ur plan for the second year?

i got one of my animation tapes sitting right here but no way to get them onto the computer.

Ill post them when i get access to the computers @ school again.

Ill slowly post stuff up when i get a chance.

What did you think of the walk cycle assignment you guys did. I got really frustrated with the one i did mainly cuz its sooooo damn tedious, i have a very strong hatred of many cartoon characters now, the pink panther being #1.

Plan for 2nd year is take traditional, and if I'm not struggling i'm going to try and get a job at a local Studio in Ottawa (Mercury hired 180 people alone this year. WOOT!)

well the first cycle we ever did was held in place, the BG moved but the char didn't. Yeah we used dirk for 2 assignments, everyone hated him after that hahah. Then after that we did an actual moving walk. I found that one easier. (that was our final, he walks on screen and something heavy jumps on him. I cant find the vid tho. I'm gonna have to ninja into the studio hah)

The biggest thing to learn was the Four main keys. Full stride, Recoil, Mid(Passing) and High. Alot of people had trouble with that for some reason. Also equal spacing for the foot movements seemed to be a problem too.

If you ever need model sheets, just send me a PM. I have access to like 8 gigs worth.
