I would of purchased a road/commuter bike, but I just got back into biking and while trying to lose a lot of weight I felt more comfortable on this one when I went shopping.

My average is about 100-120 miles a week depending on the weather. I can go further every week though.
    how much?

all my components were trashed. be careful. after about 100 miles of riding it things start messing up.
so I've heard.. I plan on replacing a lot of the components eventually anyways

it was worth it for what I use it for

question from a newbie biker, what are some good sites to read up on cycling and see what type of bike I should get? Typically I do mainly road and some basic trail riding, nothing too intense.

my buddy has beautiful all white michelins, many sets of them. should i PM you his number?

and yesterday my chain popped off during an on-the-spot race. scared the shit out of me because we were at the peak of our speed. took about 3 minutes and some scary shoe-on-tire braking to stop me.

i really need a new crank & some new cogs. anyone got naything they need to get rid of?

    maybe a 24" bmx/traveler?

i'm guessing you dont want a road bike if you're going to hit some trails... (?)

want to hit me up with some links? I know nothing about biking really so being able to look at some examples of different bike types and brands would be great.

So i watched the trailer for the mash video, and those fools have lost their damn minds. Alot of the tricks are way cool and shit like coasting on your front wheel (id really like to learn that one), but when they are riding through and AGAINST traffic like they were thats just fucking suicide.

whats the purpose of having the weird 5 spoke rims on the front tire and the regular spoked rims on the back?

you pretty much have to ride risky when you live in a major city. even when there are bike lanes, i find myself cutting across traffic, blowing through intersections and dodging any obstacles in my way to quicken my journey. i'll be on the street one second, get on the sidewalk going to same speed to dodge a bus, cut in front of the bus to get in the left turn lane to run through the intersection ahead.

as long as you are aware of what's going on around you, you can be completely fine.

It looks cool. It doesn't serve much practical purposes.

The arrowspoke (5 spokes) is actually very heavy and in most cases will slow you down. There are some tri-spokes that carbon fiber (Mavic, HED) that are super light and aero but still run the risk of catastrophic failure without much warning.
