Bought my dad a Henry .22 a few years back. He's turning 70 and his eyes are starting to fade so I got him a red dot.

One of the most fun guns I've ever shot.

    I'd welcome your input, thanks
I started in the gun industry by building AKs, not the easiest of things to do and you need some beefy shit to do it (20-30 ton press anyone?). The only pedigree of a WASR is its slave labor-like construction and its hit or miss quality control. Chrome lining isn't that big of a deal anymore with salt bath nitriding becoming such a large push now. The PAP rifles aren't just an improvement, they started from a better quality gun in every respect with the old Yugo M70s. Better barrel, better receiver, better BCG/piston assembly, better furniture. I'd replace the fire control group pin retaining plate, but you have to do that with pretty much any mass produced AK. The main reason that WASRs are so popular is price point, but with the PAP rifles being almost the same price for a better gun, it's a no brainer.

got it, thanks for the run-down. Atlantic has a Century built Yugo N-PAP - you think I should look at that one instead huh?

I feel like I should own an AK - not sure I want to learn a whole new manual of arms/controls/etc though - that's what I'm deciding on. Don't mind adopting another cartidge though.

Also, in other news the .300blk pistol is a hoot to shoot. I built it on a Gibbz side charge upper. Now that suppressors are legal in IA I'm planning to dip my toes in with a form 1 for that .300

Century doesn't actually build the NPAPs, they have a couple of good gunsmiths that convert them over from single stack when they get them imported. They're fully assembled in Serbia by people who have been making AKs for decades. (i.e. good shit)

@dirtyJ Do you have any legit west german stamped sigs laying around? probably a p220

the ones around here have something custom done, and I'd prefer it to be just like the ones carried, untouched really

I own most of the current sig series, P238 (womans carry), 938 (my carry), 320 carry in .357, p226 legion in 9, p229 in .40

kinda collecting them anymore, but just having a west german gun is kinda neat, and it's my preferred brand

Not sure about actual West Germany stamps, most of the ones I've seen are just Germany. I'll look through the shop next week, we get stuff in every week though. Hard to give up the German Sigs .

I see them on armslist all the time, usually a W. German stamped P220 goes for $500-600, just depends on quality. Trying to find one with a very legible W Germany, no shitty restoration done, and the inspection stamp intact and legible

I found a mid 80's former west germany police carry

it's in great shape. Original box, original target from when it was fire after being manufactured in germany

goes great with my growing sig collection

If the image doesn't load, http://imgur.com/a/fGGrX

    P226 legion in 9mm, west german P220 in .45, P320 carry in .357 sig with the TLR1, P238 sport in .380 auto

I love all 4, that legion is a god damn amazing handgun, incredibly accurate. Even the .45 still shoots like a fucking champ
