    2009 NBA PLAYOFF THREAD

Now that the NBA playoffs have started today, Im starting a thread for all discussions and/or picks to win it all. The match-ups in the 1st round are as followed.

    Eastern Conference
    (1) Cleveland vs. (8) Detroit
    (2) Boston vs. (7) Chicago
    (3) Orlando vs. (6) Philadelphia
    (4) Atlanta vs. (5) Miami

    Western Conference
    (1) L.A. Lakers vs. (8) Utah
    (2) Denver vs. (7) New Orleans
    (3) San Antonio vs. (6) Dallas
    (4) Portland vs. (5) Houston

Now I am going to take 1st round:
    Cleveland, Boston, Orlando and Miami
    L.A., Denver, Dallas, and Portland

    2nd Round:
    Cleveland and Boston
    L.A. and Portland

    3rd Round:
Cleveland over Boston in 6 games
L.A. over Portland in 7 close games

    Finals:
Cleveland over L.A. in 7 great games. LeBron finally gets a championship along with his soon to come MVP trophy. What do you all think?

Picks all look solid to me, with exception to Boston. Just from what I've seen so far today (them struggling at HOME versus Chicago) I wouldn't be so sure to put them past the 2nd round at all. Especially without KG. In the West, think Portland might be too inexperienced to make a solid run, but can't expect much from Houston either...

    Here are mine---

    1st round winners:
    Cleveland, Boston, Orlando, Miami
    LA Lakers, Denver, Dallas, Houston

    2nd Round:
    Cleveland & Orlando
    LA Lakers & Denver

    3rd Round:
    Cleveland over Orlando in 5
    Lakers over Denver in 6

    Finals:
Cleveland over LA in 6 games. Kobe still can't outdo Lebron, and the king takes his first championship.

I just watched all the "where will amazing happen" commercials and am pumped for the playoffs. I don't know how well the Celtics will do without Garnett. Sources say he might be out the entire playoff....yet if he does come back in time for the back half of the playoffs, how effective will he be??

I kinda forgot about KG being out. After watching most of that game vs. the Bulls, you can tell a big piece of the puzzle is missing in Boston.

Agreed. Tied Kareem Abdur-Jabar's record in 1st playoff game. Impressive

Anyone see LeBron's buzzer beater right before halftime? Thats what MVP's do.

I honestly forgot that the playoffs started today, I am not interested at all for some reason. Looks like Cavs/Lakers pretty secure.

What the fuck is up with the refs not calling any fouls on Houston? Bullshit.

If Wade gets the kind of calls he did in 2006 anything is possible. I really don't see anybody beating the Cavs though. Maybe Orlando if DH really gets going.

Agreed, that game left such a sour taste in my mouth but that was more because of the poor play on the Blazers part.

    <conspiracy>
I thought it was funny that David Stern was there and there was shit load of no-calls.
    </conspiracy>

Hopefully some real referees will show up for game 2, otherwise I wasted $100 hah.

I wish Portland got a different first round match up. I was hoping they'd get a shot at playing the Lakers. They always play well against them.

Bulls have been playing great ever since they picked Salmons/Miller from Sacramento. They should beat the Celtics as well as make the next series exciting.

Cavs have a good shot. Alot of teams are on fire in the west, providing some good competition for the Lakers. Boston aint going anywhere without KG.

Way to really go out on a limb and pick the top 3 teams in the league.
