I use Meg's Ultimate Quik Detailer. I also have a bottle of Mother's Gold somthing-or-other that I use on door sills and the "interior" exterior parts if you know what I'm trying to say. The meg's is great, I'm not sure if it's the best that's out there, but I've never had a reason to switch. I just picked up the mother's stuff because it's cheaper to use on the parts of the car that don't get exposed to anything (I don't think the rear passenger door to my car has ever been opened other than when I clean it). The mother's also smell's like cinnamon, not that it matters just saying. I also have a bottle of something that came with a kit that I have never used. I can't even think of the name right now to be honest. It's Victory somthing....

I left all of my stuff in the trunk of my car and it's actually getting the tensioner and belt replaced so I won't be able to pick it up until tomorrow. Maybe I'll take some pictures of all of my stuff.

Another sincere thanks for this thread. My microfiber towels and sheepskin washmitt have gone to shit. I dont know how to maintain those lol.

I use meg's quik detailer for between washing and waxing too. Definitely recommend it.

    How-To Clay Your Vehicle

    READ THESE ARTICLES:
    Notes:
    • Wash and dry your vehicle first
    • If you drop your clay bar on the ground it is now contaminated and can never be used again, use small pieces or invest in a clay-bar applicator holder
    • Optimum No Rinse Wash & Shine or Quick Detailer products can typically also be used as a clay lubricant

    How-To Wax Your Vehicle

    READ THESE ARTICLES:
    Spray-on Wax
    Notes:
    • It is suggested that you clay and pre-wax clean your vehicle prior to waxing
    • Paste wax has a better appearance for dark paint colors
    • How to know when wax needs to be reapplied?
      • One indicator is if a contaminant does not come off easily and effortlessly when applying a quick detailer product
      • People say that a wax layer will cause water to form beads on the surface of your stationary vehicle. I find this confusing right now, lol.

This is so awesome, my paint on my car has been getting worse and worse, and I've wanted to learn how to clay and wax the proper way. Awesome guide.

Just got done washing/claying/waxing my car. Took about 3.5 hours with a first time clay/wax for myself. My car looks amazing. Wish i could take a picture or 2 but don't ahve a camera till my girlfriend gets over. If it's your first time, just take your time and enjoy yourself. Beer is your best friend if you are hanging out by yourself.

I used Meguiars shampoo, clay kit, and wax for the whole car and some nice microfiber towels/pads. Meguiars is fantastic.

the forums on there have realy helped me out in the past. there are a lot of profesional detailers on there that share tips as well as test results for new products.

and ONR is great product. I like thier normal car wash too, works great in the foam gun.

Meguiar's Essential Collection Wax Kit for $20 at Target. YMMV
    Source: Slickdeals

Saw this at my local Target (Mankato MN) on an endcap and I think it's a great deal. As usual, Target clearance is YMMV.

Meguair's Essential Collection for Complete Car Care Kit contains:

NXT 2.0 Tech Wax (this alone is $16 at Target)
    Deep Crystal Car Wash
    Quick Interior Detailer Spray
    Quick Glass Cleaner
    Hot Shine Tire Foam
    Sponge Wash Pad
    Soft Foam Wax Applicator

Meguiar's NXT 2.0 is a great car wax and is highly recommended by many car guys. A similar kit at Amazon goes for $25 and doesn't have the Tire Foam:

    http://www.amazon.com/Meguiars-NX...B0012ZITCS

Note, this kit has the NXT Generation 2.0 wax and is NOT the Meguiar's Classic Kit.

They also had an Armor All kit for the same price [which is for interior cleaning], but I didn't see what it included.
Great starter kit just to see how great the products are and to see if you can make a routine of car-care.

This is a great thread dude, it needs to be stickied. Lots of good info for beginners.

As a side note, I'd like to say that I've been using Meguiar's NXT 2.0 since the beginning of summer 09. I have a white car too, and as most of you know, it's hard to make a white car "shine," but man... this stuff does it. I highly recommend it. The NXT 2.0 tire shine is great as well.

I actually washed my car for the first time in a while. Feels so nice to drive around in a really clean car.

It's really nice that the winter doesn't last that long here. Plus the lack of real snow/ice/salt. The Saab loves winters in the south.

YMMV but Targets are having this kit and the Armor All one on clearance for as low as $5. EVERYONE SHOULD BUY IT.

The NXT wax is pretty sweet. I thought it'd be like a liquid spray wax but it's consistency is more like a gel. I was pretty impressed.

I've been checking the 10-day forecasts here. I'm waiting for a good stretch of dry weather so I can clay and wax my car and have that nice feeling last for a while before thunderstorms ruin it.
