the only personnel that walk around armed when not on a range are MP's
I was going to bring up the same thing, great point.

Do you think this sort of incident could bring up the fact that military personnel on bases, other than MPs, aren't allowed to walk around armed? Personally, I see no problem with it and I think most people on bases such as these have been trained or have at least some familiarity with firearms. It's just frustrating to hear that a guy can go and do this against mostly unarmed people, especially against members of the military. I understand the whole argument against unstable people and people who are suffering from post-traumatic stress and such who could possibly lose it or something as a reason to not allow people on bases to walk around armed. Although highly publicized, these types of situations are quite rare in reality.

I also heard that he was using an FN Five-Seven and a .357 Magnum, any confirmation of this?

EDIT: According to Wikipedia's pages on the five-seven and the Ft. Hood shootings, it says he was using both of those firearms in the shootings. An FN Five-Seven and a Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum, apparently firing at least 100 rounds.

Now I'm just waiting for the gun control nuts to point out the fact he was using the so-called "cop killer" handgun that has a round capable of penetrating body armor (althought that round is only available to law enforcement and/or military). I've been interested in getting a Five-Seven because it's a unique and incredible handgun from what I've read. But it also sounds like this gun has taken a lot of flak over the years because the round it uses is of such high velocity and it's capacity is 20 rounds due to it's small size cartridge. I wouldn't doubt if this shooting leads to a ban or something on this firearm now. Total bullshit if that happens.

I've never been on a base before, my misconception was that there would be sentries posted all over the place. Thanks for the good insight.

From the stories my friend (who had been stationed there, and is going back there after his tour is over) it isn't as rare as you might think. Personally, my friend has flipped out before (granted only while drunk) but is very dangerous to others when he gets that way. I know other people over there can be very irresponsible, he's told me a lot of stories. I would not be a fan of all of them being armed, there is no need for it just because they're in the military.

I heard someone say that he was executed yesterday? Can anyone confirm this? Probably a rumor, but would make for a SWEET video. Lawl.

Definitely a rumor, no way he'd get executed that quickly. This will be a long, long process.

you are probably thinking of the D.C. sniper who was executed.

You may be thinking of John Allen Muhammad, the DC Sniper. He was executed yesterday.

Get one before they ban it Plenty of AP rounds to go with it. I've seen a round (restricted one of course) go through 4 vests back-to-back and a block of ballistic gel after. Also, they have another round that breaks into 2-4 pieces. So it can penetrate a brick wall or vest and then still cause tremendous tissue damage. Incredible stopping power and pretty much death if hit with this.

Here is some free advice, you will get banned for bumping old threads just to get a post count high enough so you can finally get to that porn.

Oh and btw, the porn section really isn't that great.
