We were talking about vintage so I assume is was the year.

Since then I've had a few others but I cant seem to remember he name of the winery. It was a while ago.

Let me do a search because I'm almost certain I had a thread where I posted some wines and reviews.

Edit: Just found it in my tasting book actually; Its Bighorn Cellars.

I had that '97 awhile back or whatever vintage it was and it was delicious. Didn't blow me away but we all enjoyed it quite a bit.

when did you drink your 97? do you remember what winery? some of the wines that are tasting delicious now are ones produced in 2001-2002, im surprised to hear your 97 was enjoyable that's great.

i was spoiled last night. indulged with these two:

    http://www.snooth.com/wine/chateau-p...uillac-1994-1/

    http://www.snooth.com/wine/dominus-e...vineyard-1996/

both were fantastic. I also tried a 1999 Francis Coppola directors reserve merlot that I haven't been able to find anything about online but it was also impressive.

listed it earlier in the thread. I think it was a '97, at least. I had it when my sister brought her boyfriend to meet the family. We enjoyed it, but didn't blow my mind.

Opus one, silver oak and many of the big name napa cabs have a huge upcharge just for their label.

If you want a napa cab that drinks just like an opus one, half the price and I personally think is more consistent though out the years try modus operandi

although I don't see who you can suggest a $150+ bottle to someone who's talking about a $15 bottle.

And trust me you can "enjoy wine" of far grater value for less cash that opus one.

of course you can enjoy a wine that 15 dollars opposed to 150 dollars, and i agree that some of these napa cabs are overpriced, but the thing is they still sell out of them. the only reason i try these high dollar wines is because i get them as gifts, i would never buy those bottles at full price.

dont know if you have ever drank a 150 bottle of wine, but let me tell you, you CAN taste the difference. The price point of wines is result of the amount of labor it takes to make that wine, from the vineyard all the way into the bottle. so a high dollar wine probably WILL taste better than a 15 dollar bottle of wine because of the detailed attention to growing and wine making

I've had a great deal of premium label wines. Which is why I can make the statement:
"Opus one, silver oak and many of the big name napa cabs have a huge upcharge just for their label.

If you want a napa cab that drinks just like an opus one, half the price and I personally think is more consistent though out the years try modus operandi"

Obviously if I didn't know how the majority of opus ones drink I wouldn't have made that assumption.

But like I said, YOU will not tell a difference between an opus one and a modus operondi.

My main beef with your post was that you assumed to tell a guy to buy a wine that's 900% more expensive than the one he was talking about.

    Basically what you did was:

AED: yea the KIA soul is really nice. I enjoyed it.

You: Well if you really enjoy cars you should you buy a Ferrari, it will blow your mind.

Its like no shit dude a 150 dollar bottle tastes great?

dude said a wine didnt "blow his mind" I suggested Opus One, which happens to be 150 dollars a bottle. Other dude gets all bent out of shape because I'm suggesting overprice wine.

I'd much prefer a recommendation of something thats more within the same price range and not commonly known.
