    Coyote hunting anyone?

I'm strongly considering starting up coyote hunting. I have a .22 but that wouldn't be enough, and a .270 would be a bit too much.

Anyone else into varmint hunting? I'm considering either getting a 22-250 or else a .243.

I don't understand why people hunt and kill animals just for the fun of it. Why would you want to kill coyotes?

They are one of the only predators of deer fawns in the south. So I have no remorse hunting them. It is a different type of hunt when hunting for predators. When you deer hunt you hunt them while they feed, travel, or they are looking for a mate. When you hunt a predator, you are hunting something that is itself hunting, it gives you a different type of feeling.

you could use a ligher 243 load but you sacrifice speed. 22-250 or .17 are faster. my wife has a 17 and it is a lot of fun to shoot. my dad has a 22.250 and i have never shot it but he really likes it.

my .30-06 would put those fuckers into next week, but I wouldnt waste the ammo on them. It costs almost a buck a round and I would rather use 7.62 or .223/5.56 for the price per round. It would be plenty to kill a coyote!

my personal favorite is .222 or a .220 fireball. if you load your own ammo you have to pick up some Barnes varmint grenades cause they do some fun shit.

I use my .45 Winchester if I'm hunting from horseback. If I'm tracking them on foot, I'll take my AK-47.

I have a marlin 917vr .17hmr. Its a tack driver at 110 yards, 1/2 inch grouping. Get the TNT hollow points and you have a great gun for coyote.

Around here we kill them because they are a danger to the livestock. This winter we could hear them in the woods almost every night, was fucking creepy.

I understand that. But killing them just for the fun of it is pretty fucked up to me. I never keep fish or shoot an animal unless I'm going to eat it.

It's not for fun, their population needs regulated. In various states they actually HIRE people to kill coyotes and wild boars.

For those of you who care, I finally decided to get a .243. More specifically, this one...

    https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/...ducts_id/78595

they work for deer and still work for small game.
I have a bow already for elk.

Oh and if I do want to rifle hunt elk, my dad has a .270 I can use.

Thats very true, if you think about it in most states coyotes are on the top of the food chain. Humans are the only ones that keep their numbers in check.

On another note I wish I could hunt with a .243 in mass.
