getting rid of a faulty gun

I have a 9mm that has been broken and unrepairable for over a year just sitting in my toolbox, this isn't something you casually throw in the trash and forget about so how should I go about getting rid of it? Do I take it somewhere in particular?

Well I got the gun from a friend of mine in AZ a while back already broken, he told me someone put the pin in backwards and now you can't take it apart. The back of the gun literally has a hole someone drilled to try and get the pin. I took it thinking it would be funny to scare guests but now its just a paperweight.

serial number and everythng is on the gun, it's just foobar'd.

    edit:

By funny I mean putting it under a pillow on the couch and watch people accidentally stumble onto it, their expressions are classic lol.

I bet if you take it to a smith they can fix it. They will order the new parts and take it apart. It could cost a little bit of money. But other than that I cant be of any help

Try melting it with thermite and filming it? That would be epic.

Your local PD will take it if you wanna get rid of it. Don't walk in there brandishing it, but give them a call on the non-emergency number and they should be able to help you out.

Yeah, take it to a gun store, and let the gunsmith fix it. You ought to at least get a quote. And other than that, coon's idea of taking it to a police station is probably the best idea.

There are few things that are truly unrepairable. Just because someone says it can't be fixed doesn't mean anything.

Take it to a gunsmith, get a quote, and weigh your options.

    Who is the manufacturer?

get a pro to look at it, smithies will be able to fix it always. But if you really don't care, take it to the PD like they said. Thats the most responisble way to dispose of any firearm.

It's a huge POS, a Lorcen .380 and after looking it up it's considered one of the worst guns made.

My friend who works for Excel Arms came over the other day and tried to take it apart with no avail, he's been making guns for a couple of years and know a shitload about them, we even looked up directions on how to take it apart if put together improperly and no go.

It's not worth it for me to repair this turd so I'll take Coons advice and drop it off at the PD station, thanks for the help fellas .

Pretty sure that's not true bro. You can build your own gun for personal use and it is not required to have a serial number. It's when you possess a gun with the serial number scratched out that you have issues. Trust me on this, I work for an 07 (firearms manufacturer) so I learned all this shit straight from BATFE.
