    Photoshop drawings

since this forum is almost entirely photography, i never post in it. here's some stuff I did today for a class. Literally the first time I've done any realistic rendering in photoshop, was really impressed with the outcome and I'm gonna try to do this a lot more often.

I'll update the thread with the next set I do, I've gotta have three more by next tuesday.

This is some cool stuff man. I really like it when you bring the color into it. My only suggesstion would be to work on the perspective of your subjects a bit, and to add some more hard edge highlights from your lightsource so that all your surfaces don't look so soft. Otherwise this is great stuff. I really like the spoon and the helmet man. Great work!

    pretty cool

here's one i did a couple years ago

this is 100% made of shapes and brushes, not a single photograph was used in this (i've posted this before if i remember)

photoshop rendering is a cool skill to learn

i was really surprised with how quick it is to pick up once you get into it

    keep at it solidus

    i <3 u

edit: i'm attaching the .psd if you want to take a look at my layers/process

yeah i included the reference scan as, i think, the 1st layer. if you hide all the layers above "Background copy" you can see the original.

definitely awesome man, the only thing i don't really like (and it's on the reference so its not you) is the difference in lighting between the bottom part of the phone and the receiver, it just seems like someone put a gradient map over the original picture to draw focus to the bottom part and it looks odd to me. But still, it owns.

    most likely was the case

most ads these days that focus on an object made of glass or plastic or metal are about "20% photo, 80% photoshop" things like cars, beer/liquor bottles, etc. are way more constructed in PS than they are actually true-to-photo. sometimes you see the stupidest looking fake shit ever... first example that comes to mind is airbrushed models.

it's like in the visfx field (which i believe you're studying?)... i heard that pretty much every car in every auto commercial in the past 5 years is a 3D model and not footage of the actual car. at first i was like but when you think about it, it makes total sense. i mean, why wouldn't you do that?

yup, its things like that that actually make commercial work a better creative output for a lot of vfx fields than film projects

one of my closest and oldest friends recently got a job working at Hydraulx and the amount of things he and the company have been working on is astounding. another friend of mine works at method and they seem like just as much fun.

i wish you tons of luck. it's an awesome field to be in, especially right now.
