Hey look, another progress thread - Sexy pics included *UPDATED 9/23/11*

Since it's apparently the cool thing to do these day, I decided to make a progress thread as well. These were taken a couple days ago when I was pretty drunk actually. Had to send some eyecandy to kaypea and some other girls in the "Girls I Drunk Text" list .

Anyway, I'm going to post pics either every week or every month, still haven't decided yet but hopefully we'll see a transformation and I'll gain more lean mass while shredding a couple extra pounds at the same time.

I'm currently on a quazi-keto diet which basically means I'm eating as little carbs as possible, but still allowing myself fruit and some vegetables that contain some simple carbs.

    General info
    Height: 5'7" - Yes, I know
    Weight: 176lbs
    Workout Schedule: Monday-Friday. M-W @ 6:30pm. T-Th-F @ 1pm.
Supplements: SuperPump, ON 100% Whey, ON 100% Casein, Fish Oil, Opti-Men Multivitamin.

Splits - My splits change VERY often. But this is what I did the last 2 weeks.
Monday: Upper- & Mid-Back, Biceps, Abs, some cardio
    Tuesday: Chest, low cardio
    Wednesday: Heavy cardio and Abs
    Thursday: Shoulders, Triceps, mild cardio
    Friday: Lower back, legs, Abs.

    ORIGINAL PICTURES

Keep in mind, there are no "before" pictures at the moment. These two pics will serve as my base and comparison for future pictures.

    ----UPDATED PICTURES----

8/30/10 - Drank a lot the weekend before these were taken

In your workout you mention heavy cardio. What do you usually do for that?

About 4-5 miles @ 6.5mph plus walking a half hour on 15% incline.

If I'm not in the gym I'll just do my town's cross country course which is like 4.5 miles with hills and all that fun stuff.

As of right now my lifting goals consist of looking good overall, achieving the satisfaction of reaching a PR at least once during every lifting session (doesn't matter which exercise), staying healthy obviously, and to stay on top of my athletisism. Since my collegiate career is over, I'm not going to be practicing everyday like I use to, so lifting and cardio still keeps me at my peak.

There aren't any weight-related goals.. I'm not working my way up to a specific weight at the moment, I'm just constantly focusing on hitting a new PR on at least one exercise per session.

What's your usual ab/oblique routine? Also, what's your calorie intake usually?

I feel like we have similar body builds, but obviously you're in much better shape than I am. I never played sports and just starting working out since the beginning of 09. I gotta start doing more cardio, the past couple weeks I've walked 4 miles twice a week but I feel like it's not enough. I don't think it's raising my heart rate enough. I need to invest in a HR monitor and start doing some interval training instead of just walking. I walked the 4 miles at about 4 mph, but it seemed way too easy. It was around my neighborhood, and it's not too hilly.

5 min warm up on the elliptical

    Main Workout:
    50 crunches
    25 left oblique crunch
    25 right oblique crunch
    20 diagonal crunches (each side)
    15 v-up situps
    30 sec straight plank
    30 sec right side plank
    30 sec left side plank
    50 scissor kicks
    20 leg raises
    60 russian twists
    15 crunches
    --------EXTENDED WORKOUT--------
3x12 10lb Medicine Ball Toss on Decline Bench
    3x15 190lb Torso Twist Machine
    3x12 90lb Abdominal Crunch Machine
I've increased each exercise by 10-15 reps since I posted that.

I don't really measure my caloric intake. I just make sure my protein intake is equal to my lean body mass.

    Typical day:

    • Meal 2 - 10:30am - Morning Snack - Apple & a handful of Planter's Lightly Salted Almonds & Water.
    • Meal 3 - 12:30pm - Lunch - Lean meat (steak or chicken) with veggies (corn, peas, broccolli, carrots) and a yogurt. Diet Arizona Green Tea or Coke Zero (it's harmless).
    • Meal 4 - ~3pm - Afternoon snack - Banana, handful of Almonds, Water.
    • Meal 5 - 5:30pm - Dinner - Lean meat with veggies again. Diet green tea.
    • Pre-workout Supplement - 6pm - SuperPump and sometimes a scoop of whey.
    • Workout 6:30-8 or 8:30pm
    • Post-workout - 8:30pm - ON 100% Whey, 1.5 scoops.
    • Meal 6 - 9pm - Postworkout meal - Lean meat only, maybe some veggies depending on how I feel.
    • Midnight snack - ON Casein Protein, 1 scoop.

This is the plan I go by on the days I work 9am-5pm.

On days I don't work.. my workout is around 1pm instead of 6:30pm, so I shuffle around the meals to accommodate for the early gym time.
    Hope this helps.

The ab workout is pretty rigorous. but if you keep on pecking away at it, your bound to finish it, i was getting pretty close to the same numbers as blade, minus the v-ups, fuck that shit. Maybe when i loose a few more ill do a progress thread too, i went from 220lbs down to 203. Everyone tells me im looking good, and my girlfriend says im fading away haha. Anyways, Good job blade, keep it up.

This thread is awesome. I meant to ask you - how long have you been seriously lifting? Since high school, or is that something you started when you got to college?

I lifted off and on all throughout high school but it was never on a consistent basis until the fall semester of senior year of college. I've always had an athletic/solid build (thank you genetics) so I wasn't really too concerned with lifting too much before the fall.

There were a bunch of times I would be in the gym for 2-3 months, lose interest, and I wouldn't get back in there for 9-10 months.. it sucked.

As for a consistent basis, I started October 2009.. so I'm going on 10-11 months of consistent lifting Monday-Friday. I usually take a full week off every month to let my body recover. Luckily the gym has turned into a habit/routine for me, so whenever I miss the gym I feel like I'm doing something wrong or that something is missing.

Ya I wish I still had those as a comparison. Right now the only one I have is from back in March...

That was taken 5 minutes after a p90x Chest & Back session so my muscles were still pumped up.

I still have these pictures saved on my computer.

I have been running 2 miles like 2 times a week. I still need to step up my work out.
