Should I buy it Used Sig Sauer P226 for $400

Used LEO retired Sig Sauer P226, 40cal.

Michigan State trooper pistol. I guess it is in real nice condition.

I have shot my dads 9mm P226 (LEO turn in) I think it is a great gun. I am a pretty awful shot with it, but I have only put maybe 60 rounds through it.

Not sure how many magazines it comes with.

From what I am seeing these tend to go used for $450+ so I could probably sell it later on for more if I do not like it or decide I do not really need a gun.

I guess I am in a really cheap mode right now trying to save as much money as possible and paying off my student loans.

I just do not know if I can pass this up though.

If you're trying to save up and pay off loans why do you need a gun?

Anyways, i'm a HUGE fan of the 226, I put about 10,000 rounds through it and I absolutely love everything about it.

If its a cops duty weapon then that pistol has seen a lot of rounds threw it.

It has also been well maintained and won't have been stored improperly for months.

    Are you sure about that?

It could have been in the guys holster for years threw all weather conditions open to the elements.

When you work a traffic accident in the rain the gun gets wet. And since he is a trooper i bet he worked a lot of wrecks.

I threw the baseball to my son.

I drove through a torrential downpour on the way to work.

Either way you look at your purchasing decision, firearms tend not to lose value quickly, especially when it is already used so it probably isn't a horrible investment.

Just check the fit and finish of the gun and compare it to other used/pre-owned sigs. Police trade-ins are great offers, my glock 27 that I carried for 2 years was a police trade-in and worked perfectly (and was in great condition when I bought it).

If the cop is worth his weight, he'd have taken care of it. His life relies on it to work, I don't know about you, but that's not something I'd take lightly.

Well I guess they both got sold in the day it took me to decide and word to get to the guy I was interested. Sad because after doing more research it was a really nice deal.

now that the temptation for an old used sig is gone, it's time to buy an M&P9!

True. Plus, don't let holster wear fool you into thinking it's been shot out. Take the barrel out and examine the muzzle, rifling, and feed ramp for wear instead. The nice thing about Sigs is new barrel's aren't (too) expensive. If frame, slide, and fire control parts are solid, get a new barrel and you're good to go.

**I realize the Op's original deal has passed, but this is true of any used purchase. Insides are more important than the outsides.

If you don't want a shitty trigger pull, make sure you get the single action trigger which makes the hammer stay cocked back everytime the gun is shot, a double action trigger sucks, it's a long hard trigger pull for each shot. Does sound like a good deal though!
