Who knows.. My guess is he either double stacked 350's or had a shitty battery that vented.

Ignorance either way. Wouldn't you feel the mod getting warm (vent holes or not?) and have time to throw the fucker before it exploded?

Ok, so if anything, this is proof, I have too many ideas, and not enough machining capabilities (or money lol)..

So somewhere around here.. I have a stack of brand new, unpopulates pcb's, which were used for these (each sheet split into 12 processor boards. I have about 15 sheets..

The only problem is, I can't find them.. which really blows, but this design, can substitute the pcb for wood, plastic, metal, carbon fiber, ect.. it would be sick to have my own pcb's printed, then I could intigrate logos or s/n's into the traces.. prolly not cost effective though.. I haven't looked into board shops yet..

    Basics:
    L: 46mm, W: 24mm, H: 92mm. (Hana v3 full is 48x26x89)
    3d printed titanium chassis
    Pcb walls
    Dual parallel 18650 semi-mech, using a N-channel MOSFET.
    Fat daddy 510 connector
    16mm Stainless steel Anti-Vandal switch.

Not sure on price point, until I figure out how much the 3d printing will run.. I can get the chassis printed out of plastic, for around $35 though. So a plastic chassis, would be able to sell for under $100..

Pics.. imagine the walls look cooler lol..

I can make the edges a smaller radius, so the walls go closer to the edges (like billet box), but I'm trying to comprise between looks and comfort.

    ..thoughts?

    Nick! make that happen! Please!

The problem with dna box mods is that they're way too overpriced. This would be amazing if you kept it at around $100.

@-nick expect a PM on Facebook. Let's try to get your ideas made into real mods.

Done. This design, is stupid simple, but I'm not sure the chassis can be machined.. I designed it without that limitation, as I've got a friend with access to a titanium printer.. only problem is, I have to design him some cell phone case first, and I've been playing with vape designs instead lol.
The walls being machined would make the fit and finish higher quality.

The other issue I thought about, as I fell asleep last night.., is the battery contacts will be the weak point.. the box could be build, as is, but I'd like to eliminate any weak spots.. right now, I'm using these:

My solutions would be either, create some type of clamp for these contacts. The negative side can be mounted solid, and then some type of thumb screw mechanism that will apply pressure to the positive side, to "clamp" the batt..

The other option, is to make my own contacts, with a extra strong spring (not in the current path). Performance would be sick, but I'd need to make contacts, springs, and a plastic mount for it all..

Either option will probably add a few mm to the height :\.

    Switch: $7
    Battery contacts: $4
    Mosfet: $4
    510: $4
    Wire n solder: $2
    Magnets: $3
    Chassis: ?
    Walls: ?
    -------
    Profit: $$$?

yeah, but what happens when you have to deal with the backlash from the regular versions battery contacts failing prematurely?

well, the battery contacts won't be "bad".. just not suitable for .1ohms and such.. but, the cheap contacts are out, and I'm thinking all copper contacts. I haven't decided on a mechanism to ensure contact though.. I'm not a huge fan of springs, but I might have to go that route =\.

...but seriously.. maybe? the battery contacts will essentially consist of a copper plate with two dimples, secured on the bottom of the case. then solder a heavy gauge wire, to run up along the side of the case. boom, negative contacts done.

for the positive, it'll be some sort of moving copper bar, with two dimples. magnets might just work.. I was also, thinking, even just a bungie cord, that is attached to the bottom of the case, and you just put the batts in, and hook the bungie on the positive side, providing the pressure to the contacts.. simple, and would work flawlessly, every time, but it'd look kinda hack.. my biggest issue, is there's not a lot of room between the batts and the button/510, with the chassis at it's current height =\.

Got a bonus at work, gonna use most of it towards medical bills, but wanted to get somethin little for me. Picked up my first authentic rda last night, and think I might go in for another now. Got my three mods (vanilla, 4nine, and paragon) along with the dna30, so I think I'm gonna look around for another nice dripper. Veritas maybe?
