    JERKY MADNESS

    i just bought a food dehydrator so that i can start making some bomb jerky!

    this is the one that i bought - here

    anyone have experience with making jerky and have any tips and pointers?

    so far i'm looking at recipes in books and online gonna pick one that sounds good, give it a try and modify the ingredients to my taste the next time.

    i'm seeing a few recipes where they add coke or diet coke into the marinade because apparently the phosphoric acid makes the meat softer and more flavorful, is there any truth to this?

    i'm also looking to buy one of these hot sauces so that i can just pour it into the marinade to get that spicy kick i'm looking for. is that a good idea or am i better off buying fresh peppers or pepper powder?

    I am not sure about the taste, but it will break down the meat. You can do this other ways that are probably not as bad for you as the soda.

    Don't cut them to thin, and you may have to rotate trays to keep it from drying out uneven.
